Test Career

Saim Ayub's Test career began with his debut on January 3, 2024, against Australia in Sydney, following a highly successful domestic season that included a double century and a century in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final. To date, he has featured in 8 Test matches and 14 innings, accumulating a total of 364 runs at a batting average of 26.00 and a strike rate of 55.40. His highest Test score is 77, achieved against England in October 2024, one of his three half-centuries in the format. While primarily a batter, Ayub has also contributed with the ball, taking 4 wickets with his right-arm off-break at an average of 34.50, even securing a wicket in his very first over in Test cricket. His early Test journey, however, has been a mix of promising starts and challenges, including an ankle fracture sustained in January 2025 that led to a temporary hiatus from the game. As of late 2025, he holds the 95th position in the ICC Test batting rankings.
