Saim Ayub's life before his international debut was marked by a rapid ascent through the ranks of Pakistani cricket, fueled by a supportive family and natural talent. Born on May 24, 2002, in Karachi, he was exposed to cricket from a tender age; his father, Ayub Ahmed, and uncle both played at the club level, creating a fertile environment for his interest in the sport. This passion was first nurtured on the streets of Gulistan-e-Johar with a tape ball before formal training began at the PIA Academy in Karachi, followed by the Customs Cricket Academy Under-15 team. His potential quickly translated into performance: he was the top run-scorer during Pakistan's Under-16 tour of Australia in 2018 and repeated the feat at the Under-19 level the following year, earning the 'Best Batter' award during a victorious U-15 tournament in India. His transition to senior domestic cricket was seamless. Ayub made his T20 debut for Sindh during the 2019-20 National T20 Cup, followed by his List A debut in March 2022. The 2022-23 domestic season was particularly prolific, seeing him make his first-class debut in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, a competition where he would later go on to accumulate over a thousand runs in a single season. The pivotal moment that truly put him in the national spotlight was his performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He joined Peshawar Zalmi in 2023, where his aggressive, high-strike-rate opening batting made him one of the tournament's leading run-scorers and an undeniable talent impossible for national selectors to ignore. This string of dominant performances across all domestic formats ultimately culminated in his much-anticipated international debut for Pakistan against Afghanistan on March 24, 2023.
